Positive Emotional & Behavioural Support
Positive Emotional and Behavioural Support is a programme for those supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties such as social workers, health professionals, specialist mental health professionals and support workers. The programme incorporates attachment theory and the principles of behaviour analysis when working with trauma. The course includes evidence based strategies to promote long term change and trauma recovery for children and their families.
The programme supports delegates to understand why children who have experienced adverse early life experiences can continue to experience challenges when in a nurturing environment. This training will explain step-by-Step evidence-based strategies that can be implemented in the home to decrease challenging behaviour, promote emotional wellbeing, and increase the child’s emotional and behavioural skills.
Attendees are encouraged to bring with them (while respecting confidentialit) examples of real-life clients they are working with. Challenges are discussed, and programmes of support created. Each training day will build on the delegates understanding of why these challenges occur and how to decrease them using a systematic foundation up approach. By the end of the three days delegates will have gained anunderstanding of how to support parents and carers to create a positive environment that decreases challenges and improves emotional wellbeing.
The science behind why emotional and behavioural challenges are maintained or increase when a child moves to a nurturing environment is explained so delegates can apply this knowledge to problem solve any new challenges that occur.
The course follows The Behaviour Clinic's model of trauma recovery which incorporates the neurosequential modal of therapy. Stages of recovery and how to identify which stage a child is in is explained. This information supports delegates to accurately identify when therapeutic intervention is needed and which intervention is most suitable.
This course is CPD certified. Delegates who attend all training days will achieve certification in Level 1 PEBS for Professionals and receive 18 CPD points.
Delegates who achieve Level 1 can progress to Level 2.
Refreshments and Lunch are included.
